I recently searched the app store for an social media app that let's you share your location based for travelers, the best result I got was Foursquare. I don't like Foursquare much, so I spent a night (I spent a lot of nights designing things) designing my own 'Travel' social media where you can share your location, photo albums of that trip and a status update.
